The Process
Requirements for Employment
To work as a Home Health Aide in Florida, you will need a 40 hour HHA certificate, 75 hour Home Health Aide certification (certificate), or a diploma in Home Health Aide through an approved post-secondary school.
In order to meet our exceptional standards of employment, we do require the following as well.
- Proof of Identity (i.e. Drivers License, Valid Photo ID, etc)
- Social Security card
- Certification (+skills)*
- CPR & First Aid
- TB (PPD) Screening **
- Physical Clearance
- FDLE Approved Background Check***
- HEP B Vaccine Records / Declination Form
- *You must obtain Certification/License from the state in which you are working in.
- **TB (PPD) Screening must be done within six (6) months of application/Chest X-Ray (Valid for 5 Years)
- ***Florida does not require fingerprinting and the Dept. of Health will only accept background checks approved by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) Approved Criminal Background Check.
Specific Requirements
RN
Minimum Education and/or Experience:
- Diploma from an accredited school of nursing and a minimum of one year of experience as a Registered Nurse is required.
- Home Health RN experience is strongly preferred.
- Licensure/Regulation/Certification: BLS certification from the American Heart Association and current Florida (or Compact) Licensure as a Registered Nurse.
- Must have a valid driver‘s license.
LVN/LPN
Minimum Education and/or Experience:
- Graduate of an approved school of nursing.
- Licensure/Regulation/Certification: BLS certification from the American Heart Association and current Florida (or Compact) Licensure as a Licensed Practical or Vocational Nurse.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Bilingual: English and Spanish or Creole desired.
- Good organizational skills.
- Ability to act swiftly in emergencies and work efficiently.
CNA
Minimum Education and/or Experience:
- Successful completion of State Approved Nursing Assistant Training and Competency Evaluation Program.
- Good standing in the state registry is required.
- Solid ability to communicate with patients and nursing staff.
- Prior experience as nursing assistant preferred but not required.
